The conference will address the definition of sustainability in the context of agri-food, how the sector should balance economic productivity with environmental sustainability, and how agri-food policy should be revamped to address sustainability.
Mr. Day is one of three new conference speakers confirmed this week including Nick Betts, Managing Director of the Canadian Alliance for Net Zero Agri-food (CANZA) and Charles-Antoine St-Jean, Chair of the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB). Mr. Betts will be featured as a panelist on day 1 during the Ag Policy Exchange where panelists will debate whether sustainability should be Canada’s #1 competitive advantage. Day 1 (Oct. 2) will feature seven sessions which will consider tensions, challenges, and opportunities for sustainability in the context of the agri-food sector. Day 2 (Oct. 3) will be hosted by the Centre for Agri-food Benchmarking and will focus on the rapidly changing ESG (environmental, social, and governance) requirements in both a national and global context and with respect to the role of the National Index on Agri-Food Performance. Mr. St-Jean will be joining on day 2 and will be part of the first panel, National and Global ESG Context.
