What is the State of Agri-Food Sustainability in Canada?
Demonstrating sustainability credentials represents a major economic opportunity for Canada’s agri-food sector and is central to advancing the country’s global food ambition. Consumers, customers, investors, and regulators increasingly expect food systems to deliver credible, measurable sustainability outcomes.
This webinar, presented in partnership with RealAgriculture, unpacks the Centre for Agri-Food Benchmarking’s latest National Index on Agri-Food Performance update and explores how this tool can strengthen evidence-based decision-making across the sector. The discussion assesses Canada’s track record, leadership, and progress in building a more sustainable agri-food system — from environmental outcomes and food integrity to economic resilience and societal well-being.
The exchange begins with a conversation between Shaun Haney, the Founder and CEO of RealAgriculture, and Amanda Richardson, the Executive Director of the Centre for Agri-Food Benchmarking and National Index for Agri-Food Performance. This is followed by a panel discussion moderated by CAPI’s Managing Director, Tyler McCann, featuring:
- Michelle Edwards, Director, Agri-Food Data Strategy, University of Guelph
- Jessica Norup, Director, Climate Policy and Partnerships, Strategic Policy Branch, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
- Brittany Lacasse, Manager, Stewardship and Sustainability, CropLife Canada
- Kevin Elder, Project Manager, Labour Market Information, Food Processing Skills Canada
